The Fables of Aesop have been famous for over two thousand years and they are still popular all over the world. They are stories about animals, but they show up faults and good points in human beings. The fables include the stories of the dog and his reflection, the fox and the grapes, the lion and the mouse, and the hare and the tortoise. Aesop is mentioned in the history book written by the Greek, Herodotus, but little is known about him. According to legends, he was at first a slave but later set free. He did not make up all the fables. Many of them were old stories told in Greece and other countries. But Aesop gathered the stories together, wrote them down, and made them popular.
