AvicennaAvicenna was a doctor to many sultans. He wrote about a hundred books.

The most famous of these was called Canon of Medicine. It was a guide for doctors, including descriptions of many diseases, and it was used by doctors in the West as well as the East for more than three hundred years.

Avicenna was a philosopher, too. He spent his life trying to understand how the world of Nature worked and sixty-eight of his books are on this subject.
