Douglas BaderBader, Douglas (1910-1982), RAF pilot, b. London.

Bader lost both of his legs in an aircraft crash in 1931.

He returned to the RAF with artificial legs in 1939 and fought in the Battle of Britain.

Later he crashed in France and became a prisoner of war.

He held the DSO (Distinguished Service Order), the DFC (Distinguished Flying Cross) with bars, the Legion of Honour and the Croix de Guerre.
