Friedrich EngelsEngels, Friedrich (1820-95). German writer.

Friedrich Engels wrote the Communist Manifesto (1848) with Karl Marx.

From 1842 he lived mostly in England and wrote The Condition of the Working Classes in England in 1844 and other books.

He spent his later life in London editing and translating Marx's books.
