George VI

George VI (1895-1952), King of Britain, b. Sandringham, Norfolk, England.

George VI was the second son of King George V.

He became king in place of his elder brother, Edward VIII, in 1936 and was ruler of Britain during the Second World War (1939-45).

He was the father of Queen Elizabeth II.
