Mohammed Ali Jinna studied in London and afterwards became a lawyer in Bombay. Like Gandhi, he wanted the British to give up ruling India but he wanted a separate state for Muslims (followers of Mohammed). In 1947, the British left India and the country was divided into two states, India for Hindus and Pakistan for Muslims. Jinna became the first Governor-General of Pakistan.
