John the Evangelist, Saint |
| Written by historicalpeople.net | |||
St. John the Evangelist (which means 'Gospel writer') was believed to be the youngest of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ. He was the son of a fisherman named Zebedee and the brother of the apostle James the Greater. Both of them worked as fishermen on the Sea of Galilee. John is believed to have lived to a great age and died at Ephesus in Asia Minor in about 100 AD. He is thought to be the only apostle not to be put to death.
