Landseer, Sir Edwin Henry |
| Written by historicalpeople.net | |||
Edwin Landseer was the son of an engraver and his father taught him to draw. He started drawing at the age of six and he had a picture on show at the Royal Academy in London when he was only thirteen. Landseer loved animals and most of his paintings were of animals, especially dogs and deer. He painted a number of portraits, including portraits of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and he designed the bronze lions at the foot of Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square, London.
