Laurel, Stan

Laurel, Stan (1890-1965), British film comedian, b. Ulverston, Lancashire, England.

Stan Laurel was the thinner man of the Laurel and Hardy comedy duo.

His real name was Arthur Stanley Jefferson and he went to the United States to appear in a comic act on the stage.

He began making short comedy movies in 1915 and began to work with Hardy in 1926.

He wrote many of the jokes for their movies and helped to direct some of them.
