Mark, Saint

Mark, Saint (1st century ad), believed to be writer of the second Gospel in the Bible.

St. Mark's full name was John Mark.

His mother, Mary, was one of the first Christians in Jerusalem.

Mark and his cousin, St. Barnabas, went with St. Paul on his first missionary journey.

Later he worked with St. Paul in Rome and also with St. Peter.

Afterwards he went to preach in Alexandria in Egypt and died there in about 74 ad.
