Anna Pavlova was the most famous ballerina of her time. She was trained in the Imperial Ballet School in Moscow and first appeared outside Russia in 1909 with Sergei Diaghilev's company in Paris. Afterwards she was a member of his Les Ballets Russes and then formed a company of her own, with headquarters in London. With this company, she toured the world.
