The Hon. C. S. Rolls was a designer of motor cars and in 1904, he and Frederick Henry Royce began to design motor cars of high quality under the name of Rolls-Royce.

Rolls was a keen flyer. In 1906, he crossed the English Channel by balloon and in 1910 he flew to France and back by aeroplane.

He was the first English pilot to die in a flying accident, crashing at Bournemouth, England.
