Shih Huang-ti

Written by historicalpeople.net

Shi Huang-tiShih Huang-ti (259-210 bc), Emperor of China.

Before the time of Shih Huang-ti, China was divided up into a series of small states and they often fought among themselves.

Shih Huang-ti put an end to these states. At the same time, to keep invaders out of China, he built the Great Wall. He did this by joining together a number of older walls to make a wall 3000 miles (4,828 km) long.

Shih Huang-ti wanted it to be thought that he founded the Chinese Empire. He had all documents about earlier history burned and he stopped scholars from teaching about earlier times. He had 400 scholars buried alive.
